Recently, the Asian Design Award (formerly known as China Environmental Design Award), the highest award for domestic environmental art design majors, co-hosted by the Asia Architecture and Urbanism Alliance, Organizing Committee of Asian Design Award and the Architectural History Branch of the Architectural Society of China, promulgated the list of 2016 award winners.

The works "Ocean Heaven: Sea Funeral Memorial Design" by the student Ouyang Yuting from the Environmental Design Department of School of Design at Jiangnan University with Xuan Wei as the instructor won the gold award of the Best Design Award for Cultural Space. The works by the student Wang Yaqianhui "Hotel-room Sharing: The Changeable Temporary Youth Hostel Design” won the bronze award of the Temporary and Portable Best Design Award; and the works of the student Zhou Ren “Wuxi Tune & Wu Charm: Xi Opera Museum Design”, directed by the teachers including Guo Weimin, Liu Jia and Luo Jing, won the bronze award of Best Design Award for Historic Districts and Villages. In addition, School of Design won another 3 Outstanding Awards and 1 Excellent Organizer Award. Four teachers of the School of Design won the Excellent Instructor Award. The Environmental Design Department of School of Design has participated in all the 14 sessions of competition for the Design Award, and its total score has always been among the best in the hundreds of participating colleges and universities at each session.

The Asian Design Award as Asia's first and only continental competition focusing on environmental design is known as "the cradle of future environmental designers". The event, formerly known as the "China Environmental Design Award", has been successfully held for 14 sessions since 2003. Last year, its platform was upgraded to the Asia Architecture and Urbanism Alliance to promote a more open, far-sighted, more responsible industry cooperation organization based on equality and mutual respect.

It pays attention to, supports and promotes the emergence and development of new ideas, new technologies and new products in Asian cities and the architectural industry in a global perspective. The Asian Design Award has become the most influential and professionally authoritative design exchange event with the largest scope and scale, and the most in-depth exchange among colleges and universities with the environmental design major. Meanwhile, it is also an important platform for environmental design teaching competition.
