According to CWUR 2015-World University Rankings issued by CURS (Center for World University Rankings), Jiangnan University (JU) achieves a rise of 49 over the past year, ranking NO.50 among China’s mainland institutions of higher learning and NO.6 among Jiangsu-province-based institutions.
CWUR, headquartering Jeddah of Saudi Arabia, annually publishes top 1000 global university ranking that measures the quality of education and training of students as well as the prestige of the faculty members and the quality of their research without relying on surveys and university data submissions.
CWUR uses eight objective and robust indicators to rank the world's top 1000 universities including 1) Quality of Education, 2) Alumni Employment, 3) Quality of Faculty, 4) Publications, 5) Influence, 6) Citations 7) Broad Impact, 8) Patents. Among them, the three indicators from 1) to 3) each account for 25%, the rest each 5%.
On the list, there 110 Chinese institutions (including the Hongkong, Macao and Taiwan based). 83 in mainland China and 13 based in Jiangsu-province. The top ten institutions ranked are all from America or Britain, with 8 in U.S. and 2 in Britain. The top three are Harvard University, Stanford University and MIT. Beijing University is ranked 56, the highest on the list for Chinese institutions.
