Jiangnan University Holds the 4th International Cuisine Culture Festival

On the afternoon of 28 April 2016, the 4th International Cuisine Culture Festival is held by School of International Education of Jiangnan University at the Green-Island Tea Garden of Changguangxi Hotel. Vice President of Jiangnan University Tian Bei, Dean of the School of International Education Zhou Huiming and some other leaders as well as international students of Jiangnan University participates in this event.

International students from a dozen of countries such as Pakistan, Thailand, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Cambodia, etc. show their culinary skills at their respective exhibition stands. Specialties of different countries like the Thailand Tom Yum Soup, the Khmer red curry, the Indian dessert, etc. constitute a luxury feast for all the participants. Thus teachers and students of Jiangnan University can experience the exotic cuisine culture on campus.

In order to give the international students an opportunity to enjoy the unique charm of the traditional Chinese culture, Chinese intangible cultural heritage inheritors are invited to the venue to display their works of art and conduct fabrication on site. Such intangible cultural heritages as Huishan Clay Figurine, Yixing Violet Sand Pottery, bamboo carving, microscopic carvings, etc. inspire the students' keen interest. The Executive Chef of Changguangxi Hotel presents the traditional Chinese cuisine culture by cooking Jiangnan-style specialties like Squirrel-shaped Mandarin Fish,Liangxi Crisp Eel, Taihu Boat Snack, etc. At the event, both Chinese and international students go on the stage to give a talent show. The audience is enchanted by the passionate Afro-beat, the beautiful performance of Han Chinese Clothing, and the melodious Chinese zither solo. The event ends with a group dance accompanied by a dynamic melody.
