In the finals of 10th National College Student Baseball Championship (High-level Sports Team Group) rounding off on July 24, Jiangnan University (JU) baseball team won the championship for the consecutive second time without losing a single game. JU Vice President watched the game and attended the prize-awarding ceremony.

The finals have set a new record in the number of attending teams and athletes, with the attendance of all 6 high-level college baseball teams across China. In spite of the increasing competitive level of all the participant teams, JU team convincingly achieved the championship based on its sophisticated tactics and skill as well as a steady performance. This achievement is an outcome of the joint efforts of all the coaches and athletes, another accomplishment of JU exploring the integration of sports and education as well as high-level sport team construction with the supports of both municipal government and university. Also, professional training and management has laid a solid foundation for this achievement which pins down a leading position in baseball among china’s institutions of higher learning and in turn promotes the vigorous development of JU’s sports undertaking.

Established in 2004 and held every year, the National College Students Baseball/softball Championships (including league matches and finals) is a highest-level competition among China’s institutions of higher learning in the sports events with over 70 members. This year’s finals were hosted by Baseball/Softball Branch of Federation University Sports of China and Chinese Baseball Association, and organized by Jiangnan University, which attracted more than 550 athletes from 32 universities based in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangdong, Jiangsu and HongKong to compete in five different groups, namely Professionals Group, Sports College Group, High-level Sports Team Group, Common College Group and Junior College Group.
