On Dec. 7th, the 2014 job fair was kicked off in the gym of Jiangnan University (JU). Prof. Wu Guilong, JU’s Secretary of the Party, Prof. Chen Jian, President of JU, Prof. Fu Huiming, Deputy Secretary of the Party presented and had a heated discussion with representatives from various enterprises.
It is expected that there will be 6889 students graduating from JU, including 1828 postgraduates. Although facing the great job-seeking pressure and severe supply-and-demand structural contradiction of the job market, JU has had more than 300 enterprises and institutions come to this job fair. These enterprises are mainly from 15 provinces: Jiang Su, Shang Hai, Zhe Jiang, Shang Dong and Guang Dong. Apart from individual companies, some organizations such as Yang Zhou Talent Service Center and Wu Xi New District Human Resource Center even organized enterprise groups to this fair, with more than 10,000 job vacancies available. Among these enterprises, hundreds of enterprises are in need of postgraduates, and 13 companies want PHD students, offering more than 1200 positions, the amount of which has reached the highest so far.
With the progress of disciplinary construction and talent cultivation, JU graduates are increasingly popular for more and more first-class enterprises. Up to now, over 70 Fortune 500 enterprises including Microsoft, Unilever, Anheuser-Busch InBev, China Telecom, Danone, Bunge employ JU students on a regular basis. This year, the job fair also saw some well-known institutions, which includes Shanghai University of Engineering Science, Jiang Su Food Group, Tai Ji Group, Samsung, Suning, Hongdou Group, Yunnan Baiyao, Weichai Power, BYD Company, etc.
In recent years, focused on the concept of “overall planning, full-staffed participation, close attention, whole-hearted dedication, and comprehensive promotion”, JU has made great efforts to work on graduate employment and has got outstanding achievements, aiming at “fully evaluate employment competitiveness and constantly improve the job satisfaction”. For instance, JU has consecutively in four years been awarded the title of “the advanced unit of employment work” of Jiang Su province. Besides, JU is also on the list of top 50 national universities with outstanding graduates’ employment. By now, JU has organized an intern recruitment meeting, a large-scale job fair, 5 times of middle-sized job fairs, 231 times of single job fairs for the 2014 years’ graduates, totally bringing 50,000 job opportunities, with the number of enterprises prompting 24% year on year.
