JU achieving four 2013 National S&T Awards

On the morning of Jan. 10, 2014, there grandly held the 2013 National Science and Technology Award Conference, during which a number of China’s top leaders including Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Liu Yunshan , Zhang Gaoli, etc. were at present and awarded the laureates the most prominent S&T awards in China.At the award conference, Jiangnan University (JU) scored the-most-ever four prizes including 2 National Technological Invention 2ndPrizes, 1 National S&T Progress 2ndPrize and 1 National S&T International Cooperation Prize, ranking NO.12 nationally and NO.2 among the institutions based in Jiangsu Province, according to the data announced by China’s Ministry of Education. These awards are as follows:

I. The project,The New technology and Its Application of White Spirits Producing through Flavour-oriented Solid State Fermentation, undertaken by JU as the first author affiliationandled by Prof. Xu Yan, was honored with 2013 National Technology Invention Second Prize.

II. The project,The Creation, Green-manufacturing and Application of Major amylase,undertaken by JU as the first author affiliationandled by Prof. Wang Zhengxiang, was honored with 2013 National Technology Invention Second Prize.

III. The project,The Key Technology of Fermentation and Metabolic Regulation and Its Industrialization, undertaken by JU as the fourth author affiliation with the participation of JU Prof. Lu Jian, was honored with 2013 National S&T Progress Second Prize.

IV. Prof. Arun S. Mujumdar was honored with 2013 National S&T International Cooperation Prize for his long-term substantive cooperation with JU counterpart—JU Prof. Zhang Min.
