It’s the time that “After people saying goodbye to the Golden Snake, the Fine Horse comes to greet the new year” , as a Chinese saying goes. On Jan. 30, 2014, decorated withlanterns andandstreamers, the hall of the second floor of No.1 canteen was immersed in a happy and jubilant festive air. It was JU’s New Year’s Greeting Party of 2014 holding for students who stayed at campus during the winter holiday. JU leaders including Chen Jian, Zhou Xiaopu and Tian Bei, administrators from some administrative departments concerned, teacher representatives, students remaining on campus as well as many international students gathered there to celebrate the coming lunar new year, the year of horse. TheDirector and Deputy Director of Wuxi Education Bureau, Lu Weidong and Fu Jucheng, were invited to this Chinese New Year celebration party as well.JU President Chen Jian delivered a warm speech at the party, and he had been taking part in the New Year’s Greeting Party for consecutive ten years. He reviewed JU’s various achievements in 2013, and,onbehalfofJU, expressed his new year’s wish to the students, hoping they make greater progress in the coming new year. During the party, students also received the festival subsidies from the leaders of Wuxi and JU. Above all, with laughter and music, blessing and greeting, everyone enjoyed the meal and the various shows being performed.
As a long-term tradition of JU, this kind of gatherings have been held for consecutive 31 years on the purpose of making the students remained a good stay during the winter holiday. This year, by various kinds of activities like new year’s greeting party, new year's eve luncheon, giving out festival subsidy and watching the Spring Festival gala, JU has been doing its utmost to make these stay-on-campus students during the winter holiday feel the home-like warmth. Before winter vacation, JU held a coordinaton meeting to ensure these students to spend the winter holiday smoothly and had made considerate arrangements for their study, daily life, safety, part-time job offering on campus, etc. (DepartmentofStudentAffairs)
