Jiangnan University (JU) in March offers bright and beautiful days in the spring season with all sorts of flowers blossoming. All the sceneries in this ecological campus never fail to attract visitors. Recently, the Labor Union and the Sports Department of JU collaborated on The First Spring Faculty Walking Competition named “A Walk in Beautiful JU” for the sake of better appreciating the charm of JU campus, ushering in a healthy-life notion to improve faculty’s fitness, promoting faculty interaction, and driving the faculty to work out through body-building activities such as walking.
25 divisions of JU Labor Union participated in the competition, with each division team composed of 5 males and 5 females. Each team, with prompt response and well organization, attached great importance to this event before the competition. Some of them went through the qualification trials while others took some concentrated pre-competition trainings. During the competition, the competitors dressed in uniforms and each team had their team flags holding high, which fully demonstrated the spiritual outlook and characteristic bearing of their division. On the afternoon in Mar 27, the competition kicked off. All the teams set out one by one from the West Gate of the Stadium, and went on foot along the allocated route --- the West Gate of library (the location of Taihu Sea Turtle, a mascot of JU), the faculty club (on the east side of the 3rddining hall), the west side of Digital Media Building (between School of Digital Media and School of Business), and the West Gate of the Stadium. The whole course is about 3 kilometers long. Each team made concerted efforts and walked in unity and close cooperation to strive for a good performance. As the final results of the competition show, the School of Chemical Engineering hit the jackpot with a score of 19′ 39″; School of Food Science, the Sports Department, and School of Bioengineering won the Second Prize; and the Third Prize went to School of Internet of Things (IOT), School of Business, Institute of International Education and North American College, Administrative Offices, the Second Division of Logistics System, School of Continual and On-line Education, School of Textile and Clothing, and School of Science.
The event made the participants feel the way of living a healthy life and the benefits of team cooperation. Through the event, the faculty members had physical exercises, perceived the charm of JU campus, and were aroused the loving for JU. (Labor Union of JU)
