Yesterday, according to message from the third plenary meeting of Jiangnan University Medical School Council, Wuxi No.5 People’s Hospital was inaugurated to become another JU’s affiliated hospital. Also from this meeting, the Medical School of JU declared that it will recruit the clinical medicine program students on a national basis this year.

It’s known that, the construction of Medical School of JU as well as its affiliated hospital has been included in the city’s 2014 practical projects. By now, the Medical School has finished research and review on the revised version of its undergraduate training program which focuses more on general medical science curriculums, aiming to make a full preparation for recruiting the 2014 clinical medicine majors. The clinical medicine program has been listed among JU’s 2014 recruitment.

This year, the Medical School has been paying attention to the teaching staff construction with aim to introduce about 20 teachers specializing in general medical science while it also has made breakthroughs in constructing the Research and Innovation Platforms. With the participation of Wuxi No.5 People’s Hospital, it has in total five affiliated hospital so far. In addition, it has attracted a batch of teaching hospitals in Wuxi such as Wuxi Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, Wuxi Maternal and Child Care Service Center, Wuxi Mental Health Center, Wuxi NO.9 Hospital, Jiang Yin People’s Hospital and Yi Xing People’s Hospital.

Based on these disciplinary resources, JU will establish a group of joint research centers in medicine. As a hospital directly under JU’s Medical School, the new Wu Xi NO.4 People's Hospital is under prompt construction, and it is expected to be officially put into use by 2016.
