On the afternoon of 25th, May, a ceremony about recruiting chief-physician of Wuxi as JU professors was held in the lecture room on the fifth floor of JU’s library. Present at the ceremony were Chen Jian, President of JU, Chen Weiping, Secretary and Director of the party committee of Wuxi Hospital Management Centre, Wu Zhengguo, Party secretary of JU’s Medical School, Zhang Yinglu, Director of the Human Resource Department, Han Xiaofeng, Dean of the Medical School as well as teachers and students of the Medical School.

At this ceremony hosted by Dean Han, Wu Zhengguo first gave a welcome address pointing out that recruiting the chief-physicians as professors of JU is an important approach to enhance the joint construction of JU’s Wuxi Medical School between JU and Wuxi. Also, the Medical School will substantially cooperate with these chief-physicians to offer a platform, to provide with favorable conditions and to create academic atmosphere, and take a positive role to organize research teams and to carry out fundamental research centering on the clinical practice. On the ceremony, with the announcement delivered by Director Zhang on behalf of JU, altogether 16 chief-physicians of WuXi become JU’s professors or adjunct professors.

Later on, JU President Chen presented one by one letters of appointment to them, wore school badges for them and had a group photo with them for souvenir. Furthermore, Director Chen Weiping delivered a speech to demand three points to the 16 chief-physicians. Firstly, as professors, they should fully abide by the professional ethics to serve as role models; secondly, they should keep learning to promote academic capacity and make full use of the platform of Medicine School for better their academic influence; thirdly, they should bear the dual responsibilities of a chief-physician and a professor to achieve overall development in medical treatment, teaching and academic research.

After the ceremony, some speeches were delivered to teachers and students of the Medicine School by Professor Chen Jingyu from Wuxi People’s Hospital, Professor Yang Chengjian from No.2 People’s Hospital, Professor Lv Guozheng from No.3 People’s Hospital, Professor Yu Jinjin from the affiliated hospital and Professor Lu Shu Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital respectively. With a topic of “Humanity attainment for a medicine student and a physician”, they interpreted the professional ethics to be a qualified doctor by telling vivid stories based on their own experiences and elaborated the importance of accumulation of humanity attainment, benefiting the present a lot.
