When speaking of graduation group photos, you may first think of those with different kinds of strange gestures taken together with classmates or roommates in various places on campus. However, a Jiangnan University (JU) graduate takes a group of photos with his supervisor in a totally different way. In these photos, he and his supervisor are respectively holding a board with an interesting question and the answer on it. Many netizens are instantly attracted by these photos, and they call the supervisor “the most adorable supervisor”.

Question 1: “My name is Zhou Shen.”; Answer: “I am called ‘Man God’.”

Question 2: “Sir, what do you think of my thesis?” Answer: “Ho ho.”

Quetion3: “Sir, thank you for accepting me as your disciple three years ago.” Answer: “This is the only thing that I did without a full consideration in the past three years”.

These are the dialogues between Zhou Shen and his supervisor Zhang Linghao. From the pictures, we can find the supervisor’s witty answers impeccable when answering the questions. Interestingly, some netizens even call him “other students’ supervisor”. Today, a journalist of Sina.com in Wu Xi interviewed the “Man God” and his “unsatisfactory” student Zhou Shen.

When knowing that these photos have become a hit on the Weibo (a Twitter-like instant message software), Zhang said sheepishly he had got excited to find these photos circulating on the Internet. In Zhang’s opinion, these photos are common, whereas the words on the board make them feel novel. Possibly, many graduates connect their own experiences with these photos, which consequently has been arousing wide circulation on the Internet. When it comes to the inspiration for designing these dialogues, Zhang said Zhou should take the credit. Also, Zhou talked about the inspiration of the photos. “Actually, I just want to have photos with my supervisor at first in a common though a little boring way. Later, out of a desire to express the three-year harmonious supervisor-student relationship, I want to express my feeling in the form of a story. At the sight of the boards beside me, the inspiration occurred to me easily. Zhou said, “Zhang is usually serious in speech and manner, I, however, would like to show his different aspect from the photos. Frankly speaking, it isImpromptu. From working out the scripts to taking photos, it totally took us just about more one hour. Each photo was set in the same background--a design board for one kind of concept car. When asked why he chose such a background, Zhou explained that it is a design work of his own and so it of a special significance to make use of it.

Totally, there are nine pictures involving eight groups of dialogues. Zhang said he the “thesis” group is his favorite. He told the journalist with smile that in the picture, although saying “ho ho”, it showed his complicated moods when he get through students’ thesis. Academically, a thesis should be organized in a rigorous manner. In effect, every time when I get the students thesis, I usually read them with high expectation. However, after finish reading, I will find lots of problems and I have to correct the errors continuously. So I sometimes feel helpless. Nonetheless, Zhou Shen likes the group of “Accepting me as your disciple”. Zhou is really grateful to his supervisor Zhang. In fact, he became Zhang’s student by chance. When Zhou just entered JU, he can’t find a suitable supervisor. With the introduction of his friend, he acquainted Supervisor Zhang. But by that time, Zhang had already seven postgraduates in place. With Zhou Shen’s persistent efforts, he is lucky to become the 8th student of supervisor Zhang finally. During these years, Supervisor Zhang is like both my friend and my teacher, which makes me feel very warm-hearted.

During the interview, Zhou Shen revealed that many students have nubbed Zhang “Man God” thanks to his good appearance and his hard-working as well as his high academic level. With regard to his nickname, Zhang said at ease, “I regard it’s a praise for me, and since it’s so easy to be a “Man God", we’ve got many “Man Gods” in JU.
