Held by the volleyball branch of Federation of University Sports of China (FUSC), the first Sunshine Cup volleyball league kicked off in the training base for women volleyball team in Zhangzhou, Fujian from June 9 to 13. The women volleyball team of JU cut the buck winning the national championship. This is JU’s best score ever in big ball competitions and another big breakthrough similar to a Jiangsu-provincial sports championship acquired in April.
All teams for this league are the non-professional champions singled out in their own provincial volleyball games. Though confronting much-higher-level competitors than that of provincial games, JU volleyball team members had been keeping a good shape. They played out their competence and ranked top with only one set lost in the round-robin, winning the trophy.
The volleyball team of JU was formed in March, 2013. It has been continuously given strong support and cordial care from leaders of JU and its various departments. Through the preliminary sessions to the finals of southern Jiangsu for the 18thprovincial sports games and winning the provincial championship to enter the national college students volleyball league, JU team members gave the full play to their energetic spirit of striking hard and being bold to overcome various difficulties in life and study. Under the scientific training instructed by the team coaches, they fully devoted to pre-competition training and their personal techniques and teamwork have been promoted greatly. It is not easy to go all the way to the championship for JU women volleyball team. However, they keep moving forward!
