Achieving Success in HS, Winning Honors for JU—the Closing Ceremony for 2013 HS Graduates

On the afternoon of June 28, there held a Closing Ceremony for 2013 Honors School Graduates at the auditorium of Wenhao Hall in Jiangnan University (JU), which witnessed the attendance of President Chen Jian, Vice Presidents Feng Biao and Fu Huiming, members of the Management Committee of the Honors School, Deans, representatives of supervisors, some students’ parents, all the students of the Honors School (HS), and some 200 junior undergraduates.

After the National Anthem being grandly played, President Chen Jian gave a warm speech. He said that he had taken pride in the progress of the HS students while he also hoped they would take on aspirations, love to learn and practice, strive to conquer difficulties, and shoulder responsibilities. Finally he cited a poem of Mr. Gu Yuxiu, a famous Chinese scholar and scientist, as his farewell hope. He noted that the spirit and traditions of HS should be carried forward as lofty as the mountains and last as long as the rivers and everybody would have a bright future.

In the ceremony, The Honors School Special Honorary Awards were presented to five graduates who were Liu Xiaoxiao from the School of Biotechnology, Zhu Jiahao from the School of Humanities, Su Dixin from the School of IOT, Yang Zhanhai from the School of Science and Jin Hongsheng from the School of Textile and Clothes, with President Chen Jian and Vice President Feng Biao presenting them Golden Badges of Honors and certificates of awards.

Also, Vice President Fu Huiming announced the 2013 HS Honorary Students Awards and President Chen Jian and Vice President Feng Biao presented the Badges of Honors and certificates of awards to all the winners as well.

Supervisor representative Prof. Zhong Fang, representative of 2013 HS graduates Su Dixin and representative of HS undergraduates Chou Zhen respectively gave a speech, expressing their blessings to the 2013 HS graduates and the prospective future of HS.

After the ceremony, the 2013 HS graduates took group pictures and attended the graduation banquet where there were cheers, gratitude, attachments and the longing for the future.

The 2013 HS graduates, also the second-year graduates which the Honors School has turned out, have been improving their core quality and capacity and began to display their potential as top creative talents through three-year systematic cultivation in HS. According to the statistics, among all the 233 graduates, 190 will proceed to study for their master degree, 40 of whom will study at the so-called 9+1 universities (Chinese most prestigious universities). What’s more, all of them have had abroad experience during their four-year study and they have published 102 papers and achieved 26 patents. (The Honors School)
