Recently, Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education held press conference releasing assessment results of Teaching Achievement Prizes in 2013. JU was awarded 10. Two out of Ten were honored Grand Prizes, going to “Training System of Strengthening Characteristics, Innovating Mechanisms and Constructing Diversified Personnel” (by Prof. Feng Biao) and to“Research and Practice of Talent Training Mode on Innovative Practical Chained Education of Food Discipline” (by Prof Chen Jian). The Grand Prizes collected by JU ranked second to the two “985” universities—Nanjing University and Dongnan University, yet the number of Grand Prizes and the prizes collected totally hit a new record.
Since the provincial government issuedIncentive Methods for Teaching Achievements of Jiangsu Province,it is the first time that the assessment of 2013 Teaching Achievement of Jiangsu Province was made. The work period changed from once every two years to once every four years, and the assessment covered basic, professional and higher education. Following just and open procedures — “three rounds of publication and four rounds of assessments”, the assessment was through “displaying materials publicly in university over 7days, publicizing in the Provincial Department of Education more than 30 days and notifying results publicly more than 30 days”. Besides, after assessment by sub-judging commission, deliberation by general judging commission, examination by the Provincial Department of Education and finally approval by the Provincial Government, totally 400 higher education achievements were awarded, among of which 40 were honored Grand Prizes, 120 were awarded First Prizes and 240 were announced Second Prizes.
JU attached great importance to the achievements declaration. Since the job was started from July last year, JU has sent two notices for recommending and held a few meetings for promoting and examining, having selected a few excellent achievements at last. The awarded ones are the innovative fruits of JU’s explorations, researches and practice in talent training for many years. Also they intensively reflected JU’s characteristics and effects of teaching and reform in recent years. JU will further mobilize the faculties to make teaching research deeply. Likewise, JU will utilize the outstanding achievements to improve teaching level and the quality of talent training. (Department of Teaching Affairs)
