On January 18, 2013, the 2012 National Scientific and Technological Awards Ceremony was grandly held in Beijing, during which a number of China’s paramount leaders including Hu Jingtao, Xi Jinping, Wen Jiabao, Li Keqiang and Liu Yunshan showed their attendance and presented awards to the winners. The good news from the ceremony is that Jiangnan University (JU) faculty members have won a National Technology Invention Second Prize Award , and two S&T Progress Second Prize Awards, achieving the most prizes in this top national award over the years.
With the accomplishment and other awards scored, JU, according to a newly released report by China’s Ministry of Education--the 2012 general university ranking based on the statistics on national three top S&T awards achieved, was ranked No.19 among all the Chinese institutions of higher learning and tied No. 2 among the universities from Jiangsu Province.
The three achievements are as follows:
I. The project,The Fermentation Production and Application Technology of the Key Enzyme Before Cotton Fabric Dyeing and Finishing,independently undertaken by JUandled by Prof. Chen Jian with the participation of Prof. Du Guocheng, Prof. Li Jianghua, Prof. Wang Qiang, Prof. Wu Jing, and Prof. Hua Zhaozhe, was honored with 2012 National Technology Invention Second Prize Award.
II. The project,The Research and Application of the Key High-quality Drying Technology for Fruit and Vegetable,undertaken by JU as the leading institution and led by Prof. Zhang Min from JU, was honored with 2012 National S&T Second Prize Award.
III. The project,Critical New Technology Industrialized Development and Standardized Safe Manufacturing of High Oil Content Plants Processing, jointly undertaken by Shandong Luhua Group Co., Ltd., and JU--listed as the NO.2 leading participatant, and led by Prof. Wang Xingguo from JU, was honored with 2012 National S&T Second Prize Award.(C.Y. and Patrick)
