From March 16 to 17, a delegation, led by Chen Jian, President of Jiangnan University (JU), with members including JU Vice President Ji Zhicheng，Director Gu Zhengbiao from Institute of Scientific and Technology Research, Director Qiu Jianping from the Department of Social Resources, etc., paid a visit to Baotou, a metropolis in Inner Mongolia, where they called on leaders and entrepreneurs in various areas and have reached a consensus to establish a close strategic relationship with Baotou.

During the tight-scheduled visit, the delegation discussed with Sun Weidong, Mayor of Baotou, for further bilateral cooperation, and had a meeting with a couple of JU alumni such as Hou Jianping, Vice President of Baotou Light Industry Vocational Technical College, Guo Sibao, Vice-general Manager of Baotou Huazi Industry Co., Ltd. All of them admired or took a pride in what JU has been achieving in talent cultivation, scientific and technological research and the construction of Eco-campus in recent years. Furthermore, the delegation visited many Baotou’s governmental departments including Science and Technology Bureau, Economic and Information Commission, Development and Reform Commission, and some food, breweries, and textile enterprises, with the aim to strengthen JU’s industry-university- research cooperation with Baotou, particularly in S&T cooperation and talent cultivating.

A spotlight of the visit is a signing ceremony at which JU signed an overall strategic agreement with Little Lamb Animal Husbandry Co. Ltd (LLAH), on the morning of March 17. A lot of prominent figures like Mayor Sun Weidong, Vice Mayor Ren Fu, President Chen Jian, Vice President Ji Zhicheng, Yu Jiarong, Director of Board of LLAH, attended the ceremony and highly praised this agreement by which a win-win result is bound to be achieved.

The visit shows JU’s greater efforts for boosting its social standing and the agreement marks an important step for boosting industry-university-research cooperation of JU.
