JU Ranked Jiangsu NO.1 in Patents

According to statistics delivered by Jiangsu Intellectual Property Office, Jiangnan University (JU), among all the enterprises, research institutions and institutions of higher learning in Jiangsu Province, was ranked NO.1 in three patent evaluating indicators in 2012 with 5037 patent applications, 1409 patent applications for invention, and 2570 granted patents. In addition, JU has achieved 355 granted patents for invention and 876 effective patents for invention, respectively ranked NO. 3 and NO. 4 in Jiangsu.

Furthermore, JU professor Zhang Min, followed by Professor Chen Jian, became the second JU professor who was honored with an award—Jiangsu Top Ten Outstanding Patents Inventors.

In 2012, JU was nationally ranked No. 24 and No. 32 in granted patents and effective patents for invention among institutions of higher learning, according to another national survey by Technology Development Centre, China’s Ministry of Education.
