Recently, the provincial Department of Education in Jiangsu released a list of Key Programs in Universities, supported by the 12th Five-year Plan (SJG (2012) No.23). In JU, 25 programs are sorted into Key Programs, of which 24 are related to Food Science & Technology, Bio-engineering, Textile, Automation, Design, Light Industry, Chemical Engineering & Pharmacy, Computer Science, Material and Education, the other is Environmental Engineering. That suggests Provincial Key Programs make up 52% of the total in JU.

Key Programs developing is intended to motivate universities to adapt themselves to requirements of national strategy and local economy and society, to optimize the discipline structure, to enrich the program’s content and execute a reform and upgrade on cultivation of students. Over recent years, under the principle of “Establishing Target” and “Integrating Resources”, JU aims at the quality of students and social service, adjusts the structure of programs and enhances the undergraduate programs to answer the demand of local industrial development. The accreditation witnessed another remarkable advancement in student cultivation and discipline establishment of JU, who will explore further and endeavor to become distinctive and prominent, to develop versatile and creative talents for the regional and industrial requirements.
