2021 Cross-Strait Food Nutrition and Health Industry Summit and the First Annual Meeting of the 7th Board of Directors of the School of Food Science and Technology of Jiangnan University was Held

Recently, the “2021 Cross-Strait Food Nutrition and Health Industry Summit" and the first annual meeting of the 7thBoard of Directors of the School of Food Science and Technology of Jiangnan University was successfully held in Wuxi. As a part of the series of activities of the 2021 Cross-Strait Entrepreneurs Summit, the event welcomed over 200 representatives of government, industry, university and research institute in the food field to discuss cooperation and integrated development of cross-strait food industry.

Bi Meijia, Deputy Convener of the Comprehensive Cooperation and Exchange Promotion Group of the Cross-Strait Entrepreneur Summit and former party member of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Rui Jingzhong, Deputy Director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Jiangsu Provincial Government, Zhou Changqing, member of the Standing Committee of the Wuxi Municipal Party Committee and head of United Front Work Department of the CPC Wuxi Municipal Committee, and Gu Zhengbiao, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Jiangnan University attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. The signing and launch ceremony of the Taihu Bay Scientific and Technological Belt Food Valley Incubation Park was also held. Wuxi Municipal Taiwan Affairs Office, School of Food Science and Technology of Jiangnan University, and Wuxi Food Science and Technology Park jointly signed a contract, which remarks the beginning of the construction of the Taihu Bay Scientific and Technological Innovation Belt Food Valley.

Experts from mainland and Taiwan make special reports based on their respective research fields. Yu Lu, Vice Chairman of the China Chamber of Commerce of I/E of Foodstuffs and Native Produce and Animal BY-products, introduced the development trend of agricultural products trade between mainland and Taiwan. Professor Wang Jianmin, Researcher at the Taiwan Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Honorary Dean of Become Family Research Institute of the Minnan Normal University, introduced current food industry cooperation and development trend. Shi Kunhe, director of Taiwan China Cereal Food Industry Technology Research Institute, and researcher Zeng Xinyi focused on the current situation, research and development, and market of Taiwan's health and nutrition food industry, and put forward prospects for the future development.

In the afternoon, Fu Huiming, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Jiangnan University, Liu Yuanfa, Dean of the School of Food Science and Technology, Wu Xiaojun, Dean of the Graduate School, Huang Min, Chief of the Social Resources Division, Chen Longjian, Assistant President of Golden Circle Securities Co., Ltd., and Vice President of Xiamen Taiwanese Investment Enterprise Association, Professor Yang Ruijin of the School of Food Science and Technology and leaders and persons in charge from 106 food companies attended the first annual meeting of the 7thBoard of Directors of the School of Food Science and Technology.

As a century-old industrial and commercial city, Wuxi has a good industrial foundation and enjoys wide reputation in light industry, food and other fields. The food discipline in Jiangnan University is well known around the world and has unique advantages in scientific research. Taiwan's food industry started early and has been deeply involved in the mainland, and is unique in terms of products, marketing, branding, and innovation. Jiangnan University will deeply integrate the industry of Wuxi, the market of the Yangtze River Delta, and the manufacturing and marketing advantages of Taiwanese enterprises to empower the Taihu Bay Scientific and Technological Belt Food Valley construction and will make unremitting efforts to achieve the goal of "Building a Demonstration Park for the High-quality Development of the Food Industry on Two Sides of the Taiwan Strait" with the model of "government + university + research institute + industry".
