On the evening of June 16, the General Assembly of Cumulus Association was held online. Associate Professor Gong Miaosen of the School of Design was elected as a new member of Cumulus Executive Board (there are only 3 representatives from Asian universities) and he is the only representative from China. The 10 newly-elected executive committee members from across the world will jointly promote global cooperation. Full Professor Lorenzo Imbesi from Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, was elected as the new President of the Association.
The meeting reviewed and approved the new constitution of the Association and announced the launch of international registration, and approved 21 new membership. Mariana Amatullo, former President of the Association, reported work from 2020 to 2022 on behalf of the Executive Board, and all members reviewed and approved the association's financial revenue and expenditure in 2021.
The Cumulus Association was founded in 1990 and has 357 members from 66 countries, bringing together the world's most famous design art schools. It is the leading global association of art, design education and media. The election of Professor Gong Miaosen will strongly promote the international influence of the School of Design of Jiangnan University and promote international cooperation of the School with its global counterparts. In the new era, it will help make Chinese design more visible on the international stage, and tell Chinese stories with the power of design majors.
