October 24–26, 2025, the Jiangsu Provincial Competition of the 8th SFLEP Cup National College Students’ Intercultural Competence Contest for University Students was held at China University of Mining and Technology. This year's event attracted 81 teams from over 70 universities across the province to compete.

Jiangnan University fielded an international student team comprising SOE SOE ZIN from the School of Digital Technology and Creative Design, DUONG THI HUYEN TRANG from the School of Business, and SANSEN MANACHAI from the School of Business. After intense competition, the team secured the Grand Prize with an outstanding performance, advancing to the national finals and achieving a historic breakthrough for Jiangnan University in this competition.

This marked the first time international students from Jiangnan University participated in this competition. During preparation, guided by their instructors, the team systematically studied cross-cultural knowledge, meticulously analyzed past award-winning cases, integrated current social trends, and incorporated their unique cultural exchange experiences. They conducted multiple brainstorming sessions, thoroughly researched materials both horizontally and vertically, and rehearsed extensively using case scripts. During the competition, the team captivated judges with original, authentic expressions and strong cross-cultural empathy centered on real-world issues, ultimately securing the Grand Prize.

The Cross-Cultural Competition serves as a platform for in-depth exchange between Chinese and international students. Cross-cultural teaching helps students grasp the essence of intercultural dynamics through practical application, further enhancing their cross-cultural communication and problem-solving skills. The competition has driven teaching reforms centered on “promoting teaching through competitions.” Currently, the School of Foreign Languages is collaborating with the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation to provide comprehensive guidance and support for the international student team preparing for the national finals, empowering students to showcase Jiangnan University's excellence on the national stage.
