Recently, the “Perceiving China” Design Academic Week, co-hosted by the Milan Design Week Organizing Committee, the Organizing Committee of the Milan Design Week—Exhibition of Outstanding Works by Faculty and Students from Chinese Universities’ Design Departments, and the Promotion Office for the Chinese Universities’ Design Innovation Practice Competition and Milan Exhibition, was grandly launched in Milan. Centered on the themes of “cultural exchange” and “diverse innovation,” the event brought together design talents from China and abroad to showcase the vibrant vitality and unique value of Chinese design education to the world. Under the theme “Breaking Boundaries, Rebirth,” the exhibition is held at the Milano Luiss Hub in downtown Milan. The exhibition space connects with the garden area, creating an open, inclusive, and interactive atmosphere. The exhibition will run until April 26, 2026.
As a vice-chair institution of the Jiangsu Province Industrial Design Association, the School of Design at Jiangnan University made a prominent appearance at this international event. Professor Deng Rong of our school, as vice-chair of the association and academic advisor to the curatorial team, organized a joint exhibition featuring multiple member institutions from across the province, showcasing Jiangsu’s strength in collaborative innovation within the field of design education.
Notably, outstanding works from our college have been selected for the Health Design exhibition at Milan Design Week. These works epitomize the college’s proactive exploration and cutting-edge achievements in the field of health design. Centered on human well-being, they integrate technology, the humanities, and systems thinking. From the intelligent transformation of healthcare systems to the enhancement of patient rehabilitation experiences, and from sustainable care to the promotion of healthy lifestyles, these works comprehensively demonstrate the power of innovative design while highlighting Jiangnan University’s academic depth and social responsibility in the field of design research.
The School of Design at Jiangnan University’s participation in the Milan exhibition represents not only an international dialogue on academia and creativity, but also showcases Chinese design’s active voice and practical contributions to global issues such as health accessibility, public health, and sustainable care. Moving forward, the School will continue to leverage platforms such as the Jiangsu Province Industrial Design Association to collectively advance Chinese design onto a broader global stage.
